Features – Hardware and Software
The Genius G-pen 450 is about an-inch size upgrade over the G-pen 350. A translucent plastic flap covers the active area; if you want to trace an image, the flap can hold a photo or picture.
Genius is a Taiwanese company best known for producing the first computer mouse with a scroll wheel. When it comes to graphic tablets, their strategy, it seems, is to offer a wide range of options for a wide range of specific needs, taste, and budget.
The Genius G-pen 450 is primarily designed for writing, editing photos, and simple drawing than creating complex art or graphics. It comes with proprietary PenSuite applications that allow you to add drawings or handwritten notes to any image on your screen, add annotations to documents, create emails using your own handwriting, sign virtual documents, or activate a computer command or application using your G-pen.
The 450 cordless pen comes with 2 buttons that you can program into a left or right mouse click. 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and high resolution of 2000 LPI ensure drawing accuracy and better control with shape and thickness of lines.
The Genius G-pen 450 graphic tablet is compatible with Windows and Mac.
The Bottom Line
If you are looking for a device that lets you draw complex graphics, the G-pen 450 is not for you. However, sketchers, professionals, or anyone who need a reliable tool for writing, photo editing, and simple drawing needs, the Genius 450 is quite a smart choice.
Pros - High level of sensitivity and resolution guarantees great writing and drawing experience with minimal error all the time. - Compact size makes it easy to bring along when you travel. Cons - The Genius G-pen requires an AAA battery to operate. This makes the top end of the pen a bit heavier. Pens of other makers such as Wacom do not require any battery. - Drawing/editing applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Corel Painter come in Trial versions only.
